Recently, the ID. AURA L5 was officially included in the latest product public notice list of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and FAW-Volkswagen simultaneously released the official images of the new car. As the second pure electric model in the ID. AURA series and the first pure electric family sedan, the new car is positioned as an "intelligent large liftback, super family sedan" and will join forces with the ID. AURA T6 to form FAW-Volkswagen's "new energy twin stars," creating a new pattern of dual-track advancement in sedans and SUVs and injecting new momentum into FAW-Volkswagen's electrification transformation.
The ID. AURA L5 highly restores the design essence of the ID. AURA concept car from the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, carrying the concept of "practical naturalism" throughout the entire vehicle. The new car was jointly created by Chinese and German design teams, based on the core travel demands of Chinese families, deeply integrating Volkswagen's classic genes with youthful aesthetics, presenting a design style that combines practicality, technology, and sportiness.
The new car adopts the "flowing water shaping" design language, with a short overhang and long wheelbase ratio outlining a stretched and smooth coupe posture. The body dimensions are 4883×1881×1506mm, the wheelbase is 2820mm, and the "room efficiency rate" reaches 84.4%, fully ensuring the comfort of the interior space while maintaining a low-slung dynamic stance. The front face continues Volkswagen's iconic U-shaped design, with intelligent eye lamp clusters paired with slender light bands and 3D luminous particles, presenting an approachable visual expression. The side is equipped with true frameless doors, semi-hidden door handles, and hidden water strips, making the body surfaces more concise and smooth, creating a "traceless water surface" visual effect. The rear further enhances the vehicle's recognizability through 3D stereoscopic taillights and multi-layered light and shadow design.
As a core highlight, the ID. AURA L5 deeply integrates fastback aesthetics with pragmatism. The electric liftback tailgate has an opening angle of over 70° and an opening width of over 1000mm, greatly improving the convenience of loading and unloading large items and breaking the loading capacity limitations of traditional three-box sedans.
